Madrid's Maravillas district. Eloisa is a devoted wife and an efficient mother who lives with her husband, a policeman who is bossier at home than out in the street and sometimes go overboard. Her son is a blessed that left the seminary shortly before becoming a priest, and spends his life studying and praying to atone for his family's sins. Her daughters are obsessed each in their own way by wealth, and they profess each other a deep hatred.
