In 1550, in Valladolid, Friar Bartolomé de las Casas and Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda, advisor to Charles V, debated before a theological-legal tribunal about the limits of the rights of Spanish colonizers and the beginning of the rights of the indigenous American peoples. Nearly 500 years later, a group of experts analyzes this event, considered the first debate in history on human rights.
